Japanese Shibori Fabric: Pentagon
This indigo-dyed shibori cotton fabric is hand-stitched and dyed inJapan. This type of stitched resist, nui shibori, is achieved by first drawing the outline of the pattern on the cloth, hand-stitching with needle and thread following the outline, pulling the thread tightly to create a resist for the pattern, and then dipping the cloth into the indigo dye vat multiple times to achieve the deep blue color. Once the dyeing is complete, the threads are clipped and the fabric opened to reveal the sweet little patterns that repeat throughout the cloth. Wash this cloth separately or with jeans for a few washing until any excess indigo releases. This fabric is sold by the piece, not the yard.
