This naturally dyed 100% alpaca scarf repeats a bold traditional patterning from the Accha Alta village in the Peruvian Highlands of Cusco. Handwoven on a backstrap loom this one-of-a-kind accessory is truly an individual expression showcasing the accomplished weaver. The design puts a spotlight on the strong use of traditional motifs. Beautifully finished with a twisted fringe.
The scarf was woven by David Mamani Layme, a member of the Accha Alta cooperative. These artisans are members of the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cusco, Peru. CTTC works with Quechua weavers to ensure that their 2000-year old textile traditions continue to thrive, and to aid in economic development.
