Product Description
This Anjat carrying basket, woven in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, is made from strips of strong, pliable rattan skin. The basket has strong plied cords which thread through loops in the open top and provide attachments for the woven straps. You can slip both straps over one shoulder, or wear the basket like a backpack. The basket nestles comfortably in the middle of your back, and is ideal for carrying light loads.
This basket is produced by Dayak women in two areas: Benuaq and Bentian. Purchase of this basket helps generate income for these women from non-timber forest products. Learn more about Anjat weaving in Indonesia.
