This Japanese shibori pattern creates a lovely textured fabric perfect for a scarf.
The background of this complex fabric is a pale lavender silk jacquard with a woven design. The purple and blue diagonal lines were then added, probably using a stencil. The final step was done by shibori –small bits of fabric were gathered and held while threads were wound around them, creating a small circular or square motif.
The wrinkled texture of the fabric is a result of the binding and will remain as long as the fabric is not washed or heavily ironed.
