Combining a strong geometric graphic effect with an interesting textural dimension, these unusual scarves make an eye-catching fashion statement. They would be equally arresting as a decorative table accent.
Very fine silk warp threads combine with silk wefts of varying thicknesses: thick for the tapestry blocks, and fine to medium-to-thin for the plain-woven bands. The scarves are finished with twisted fringe. They are very soft and light-weight with an excellent drape.
Each of these scarves was handwoven by master weavers of the Living Crafts Centre in Luang Prabang. The Centre is part of Ock Pop Tok, whose mission is to support traditional Lao crafts and to provide economic opportunities for the artists.
