This wool scarf has intricate traditional patterning from the Chahuaytire village in the Peruvian Highlands of Cusco. Handwoven on a backstrap loom this one-of-a-kind accessory is truly an individual expression showcasing the accomplished weaver. This design is unique in the inclusion of natural white to set off the bands of traditional motifs. Beautifully finished with a twisted fringe.
The scarf was woven by Edwin Ro Ylla Chicche a member of the Chahuaytire cooperative. These artisans are members of the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cusco, Peru. CTTC works with Quechua weavers to ensure that their 2000-year old textile traditions continue to thrive, and to aid in economic development.
