Handknit in Estonia, these socks are beautiful and functional. The front of each sock has a lace panel bordered by fine cables that runs from cuff to toe. These socks also have a Roositud pattern of three red roses down the side which is done during knitting but looks like embroidery.
The knitters, a group of four woman who live in the Tallinn area in northern Estonia, are all masters of their craft. They love to knit and it shows in their skillful techniques and interesting patterns. Many of the designs are adapted from traditional mittens, socks or gloves found in Estonian museums or recorded in books about folk craft, giving each piece a connection to Estonia’s wonderful knitting heritage. Each knitter has added her own ideas and favorite techniques to her work, making each truly one-of-a-kind.
