Product Description
Simple in design but oh so useful. This crossbody bag is fabricated from a length of backstrap woven cloth, folded in the middle and joined at the sides.
It’s finished along the sides and top edges of the opening with a special Peruvian braid, nawi awapa. Tassels have been added at the bottom. The bag design consists of naturally-dyed, solid-colored striped bands with patterned accent bands, the motifs characteristic of the Chahuaytire region.
This bag was woven by Anderson Chicche Quispe, a member of the Chahuaytire village and cooperative member of Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco, located in the Peruvian Highlands of Cusco.
Fiber: 90% wool, 10% alpaca
Size: 12” w x 11.5” l; 24” long strap to the shoulder and zipped closure.
