This crossbody bag is fabricated from a length of backstrap woven cloth, folded in the middle and joined at the sides. It is finished along the sides and the edges of the opening with a special Peruvian braid, nawi awapa. Tassels have been added at the base. The bag design consists of naturally-dyed, solid-colored striped bands of indigo with patterned accent bands, the motifs characteristic of the Chahuaytire region.
This bag was woven by Yenny Sutta Quispe, a member of the Chahuaytire village and cooperative member of Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco, located in the Peruvian Highlands of Cusco.
