Product Description
These Peruvian hats, or ch’ullo, are masterful handknits of alpaca made by The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC) artisans in the village of Huacatinco, Ocangate. Men and boys in the Peruvian Highlands wear these hats but we find they look great on everyone.
The hats are made of fine-gauge, natural-colored alpaca with exquisite designs. They are knit in-the-round using fine, double-pointed needles with one end of each needle having a small hook to catch the yarn; the yarn passes around the knitter’s neck to maintain even tension.
No two hats are completely identical. The natural alpaca yarn are knit into diamonds and flower motifs. Earflaps and tassels are a finishing touch.
To determine size: Measure your head circumference. These hats fit various sizes and are measured without stretching; if you’d like a little more room, order the next circumference up.
