Product Description

This wool scarf has intricate traditional patterning from the Chahuaytire village in the Peruvian Highlands of Cusco. Handwoven on a backstrap loom this one-of-a-kind accessory is truly an individual expression showcasing the accomplished weaver.  This design puts a spotlight on the strong use of traditional motifs including a pretty wonderful Alpaca. Beautifully finished with a twisted fringe.

The scarf was woven by Asunta Sutta Puma, a member of the Chahuaytire cooperative. These artisans are members of the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cusco, Peru. CTTC works with Quechua weavers to ensure that their 2000-year old textile traditions continue to thrive, and to aid in economic development.
