This ProTeje collection pillow cover is handwoven with an allover diamond motif. Woven on a backstrap loom by Ana Garcia, a member of the Nahuala village, she uses a brocade technique and natural cotton in brown, green and ecru. The symbols woven into the cloth are adapted from traditional dress.
Mix and match the ProTeje collection of pillow covers featuring heirloom cotton in natural colors.
ProTeje, which means “for the weavers”, is a project of the Museo Ixchel in Guatemala City. They are dedicated to maintaining the production of high-quality indigenous textiles and offering a means of economic support to Guatemalan weavers. Since its birth in 1994, it has grown to support 300 weavers from nine departments and twenty-four communities.
