When traveling through rural India, you’ll see windows decorated in patterns by using mud which hardens like clay. Indian artisan Aziz Kahtri was inspired by the houses in his village in creating the design for this silk bandhani scarf.
As a master bandhani and dye artisan, Aziz Khatri uses the tie-and-dye resist bandhani technique to create the patterns throughout this shades-of-green scarf.
Abdul Aziz Khatri learned the art of bandhani from his family, the traditional patterns from his mother and grandmother, and dyeing techniques from his father. In 2005, Aziz expanded his proficiency by studying at Kala Raksha Vidhylaya, a design school in Kutch, India. Learn more about Aziz and resist-dyeing techniques.
