Tinkuy de Tejedores: A Gathering of Weavers Part I
Tinkuy de Tejedores (a Gathering of Weavers) took place last week in Cusco, Peru. The three-and-a-half days were jam packed with so much richness—from music and dancing, to learning and fellowship. It seems like the best way to share this event with you is through images. Since it’s pretty difficult to choose between the hundreds taken, you’ll receive a visual treat over a few blogs.
Come along with me as we parade from Qoricancha, near the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco, down Avenida del Sol, and over to the Convention Center. Then I’ll highlight the Sallac community, which Bonie Shupe and I have written about previously, what they wore and demonstrated during Tinkuy. Such richness!
The ClothRoads shop has Peruvian shawls, scarves, hats, and bags. So even though you weren’t at Tinkuy, you can treat yourself to their fine artisanry.
